I am sorry for your lost. I love the way you commemorated your father and the on going leafamessage project. I hope one day the leaf will be blowing toward Santa Fe or all over the country. I am looking forward toward your next project. Keep on creating.

I heard from your Mom that you lost your Dad.

Losing a parents is one of the hardest things we go through. There is just something about that one person who was always available for us is suddenly physically not available. I take a great deal of comfort in knowing that our parents are always with us. I was delighted to know he had a close relationship with his children. I missed seeing him over the years but was happy to know that he had a good life. Be well and I hope to see you this sumer.

Thanks for the comment/criticism. You are absolutely right…
I was too cheap to create a brand new domain for the project
(in other words, i used WordPress to start a blog within my
main artist website http://www.williamcravis.com... and this
compromised the “feeling” of the URL).

Come to think of it, i first opened a free blog with blogspot…
and that one had the simple name “leafamessage.blogspot….”
In the end i was limited by my absolute lack of programming
skills, i.e. html, css… and chose WordPress because the available
template was more interesting and easier to work with.

You have illuminated one of the central problems of the project.
While it is too late to change the direction of the current project,
I will follow your suggestion for future, similar projects… even if
it means bringing someone with programming skills on board.

I admit the URL made me skeptical and instantly disappointed. Not a random act of public art, but a publicity stunt.

I wonder what the difference might be if you used a domain name that seemed less unrelated and commercial — “leafmessageproject.org” or something.

Saw your leaves next to Hamersley’s. Captivated, I was turning leaves over. Along came 30-something Father with son. “Dad? Why are there words on these leaves?” (Father, of course, had not noticed…) Father and son began examining leaves, and Father came up with a theory: “Well, you know those candy hearts you get for Valentine’s Day? These trees are doing just that!” Listening in, I was also perusing the leaves, when I found one marked “Be Mine!” Handing it to Father, I said: “Well then, THIS leaf is for YOU.”

A moment I will never forget. The power of ART !!

found a ton outside the Cyclorama- I took one home, dipped it in beeswax to preserve and along with a few others made a lovely fall garland. See!? I thought this was such a great idea- it certainly brought smiles to our faces!

I had taken my daughter to Boston for the forst time..she is 7…we were walking in the Common to go see the Ducks…she looks down and said mommy the leaf has something on it! This is very cool! I think it was the highlight of our trip!! Boston is a wonderful city and we had an amazing time! She wishes we could live there!!!
